Library Program Description At GMA, the mission of our library program is to foster a love of reading through exposure to a variety of literature and to ensure that students, faculty, and staff are effective users of ideas and information.
Students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
Additionally, the library serves to build and to strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources.
Flexible access to the programs and services of the library program is encouraged to all students and staff.
The Reading Olympics, Scholastic Book Fair, and PA Young Readers Choice Awards are several activities supported by our library program.
Primary Function The Librarian is responsible for educating the whole child by providing a quality learning experience to all children in his/her care.
The Librarian is charged with the daily operation and functions of the library.
The Librarian has the primary responsibility for the major library functions.
In the execution of these functions, the librarian must assume several distinct roles, including:
A consultative role:
includes active consultation with teachers as they plan instruction to recommend the inclusion of appropriate library and media skills instruction and resources into classroom curricular units.
An instructional role:
includes both formal instruction in library, media, and technology skills (in conjunction with the Director of Instructional Technology) that addresses multiples literacies (information, media, visual, and technology), as well as informal assistance to students and staff in locating and using library materials and technology.
The Librarian creates an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning.
An administrative role:
includes the daily management of library center routines, evaluation of library materials, purchasing, circulation control, provision of equitable access to all physical and virtual collections of resources that support the school curriculum and meet the diverse needs of all learners, and coordination of library volunteers.
An information specialist role:
includes developing and maintaining a collection of resources appropriate to the curriculum and the learners, modeling effective strategies for developing multiple literacies, and evaluating, promoting, and using existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.
Qualifications and Requirements A candidate should hold:
A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Education PA Library Certification A Master of Library Science Degree (MLS) is preferred Membership to American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Catholic School Librarian experience preferred A candidate will need upon hiring:
Compliance with State and Archdiocesan Safe Environment and Act 126 guidelines Salary commensurate with experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
