Civil- Geotechnical Engineer

Our client needs to hire motivated, creative, and passionate Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with design experience related to large hydraulic structures such as dams, levees, canals, and related structures. Successful candidates will support a quickly growing dam, levee and flood control practice. You will work collaboratively with a talented team of design and technical leaders in the Water Resources field.
Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Design and evaluation of water resources/flood control projects including levees, dams and their appurtenant structures such as spillways, outlet works, and hydroelectric facilities;
  • Provide technical input and oversight in one or more of the following areas: structural design and evaluation of concrete hydraulic structures; embankment dam design; geotechnical, seismologic engineering;
  • Resolve complex engineering calculations and evaluations;
  • Potential to be the primary point of contact with client on projects, including full responsibility for successful project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in analysis, design, project management, or construction of various types of dams (floodwater retention, water supply, hydropower, etc.) and levees;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer;
  • Working knowledge of the GeoStudio suite of software programs, including SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W, and QUAKE/W;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision; organized; energetic and enthusiastic; and ability to build productive working relationships within the firm and with project teams;
  • Ability and willingness to travel periodically;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strong written and verbal skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • Basic knowledge of various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software programs, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, RiverFlow2D, and Flow3D;
  • Understanding of regulatory, permitting environment, and engineering standards for State Dam Safety Programs, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission;
  • Strong theoretical background with experience in applying analyses to practical solutions, including computer modeling and seismic analysis and designs;
  • Ability to direct and mentor junior staff (depending on level of experience of the successful candidate).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
